The CATS Hackathon Taster II brought together about forty-two people on Zoom for the second session of the Cardano Africa Tech Summit Hackathon series. The meeting took place in the Wada Forum’s virtual room where energy and ideas continued to build toward the big event in Nairobi, February 2026.

A major part of the session centered on sign-ups and enrollment. Sign-up means getting your ticket and being counted. Enrollment means joining the action — picking your role, filling out a short form and completing onboarding.

The key dates were confirmed:

  • Oct 13 – hub and participant sign-ups open
  • Oct 16 – ticket close
  • Oct 16 / 23 / 30 – enrollment calls
  • Nov 1 – hackathon start
  • Dec 15 – core phase ends
Participants were directed to cats.wada.org for registration and docs.wada.org/roadmap for the program roadmap.

The taster calls are happening now to orient and answer questions. After enrollment, hubs and participants will learn how to self-organize. Local hackathons will then explore local challenges and build Cardano-based prototypes. Later, top teams will be invited to Nairobi for a pre-summit intensive and showcase at the Cardano Africa Tech Summit.

Each hub will gather around forty participants, though smaller engaged teams are welcome. Selection focuses on three things — timely form submission, the quality of answers and sign-up numbers. Up to nine in-person hubs are expected with nearby ones possibly merging.

Support includes stipends for in-person hubs, top-team prizes and potential ADA rewards depending on participation. Five standout teams will travel to Nairobi with funding to continue building after the summit.

Beyond the hackathon, sustainability paths connect through Cardano Foundation learning and Intersect roles, including Developer Advocate and Maintainer programs. A community tool will track 4–6 weeks of on-chain learning for both technical and non-technical participants.

Coordination will happen mainly on Telegram with key updates also shared via Luma Blasts. The next steps are simple — register, complete your enrollment, join the Telegram groups and share your personal referral link.

The final taster call will be on October 10th at the same time on Zoom.
